Since 1997, the Bibliotheque Art Improvisations (now renamed Aklateko) has been performing, conducting workshops and giving assistance to elementary pupils in Manila, Cavite and any other parts of Luzon. In 2004, the group headed by Homer Fernandez, facilitated an art workshop for special children for the very first time, in Molino, Bacoor, Cavite. In 2003 up to 2012, the group had served at the St. Joseph Home for the Aged in Imus and the Jardin de Maria Orphanage in Bacoor. From 2013 up to the present, the group is helping out with the children of Sitio Malabon, Sitio Silangan and Sitio Ilaya in Salawag, Dasmarinas, Cavite. In 2016, Joemarie Sanclaria and Homer Fernandez assisted in teaching art to the sexually trafficked girls and delinquent boys at Preda Foundation in Olongapo. From 2012 to 2017, Joemarie and Homer have been helping out with the radiologists at the Dela Salle University Medical Center in constantly winning theatrical championships. In 2016, Joemarie and Homer taught Art to the sick children of Missionaries of Charity in Tayuman, Manila.
Aklateko’s role in Children’s Theater is essential, especially to the elementary schools in Dasmarinas, Cavite that benefited from the improvisation method that the group implemented. For the whole decade of 2005-2015, the Aklateko Group had been able to provide over a dozen provincial schools with improvised theater groups, using only the available materials in their surroundings, thus helping pupils build their own venues and platforms for their talents without difficulty.
